Earlier this week some in the liberal media reported that President Donald Trump had ousted former Deputy Chief of Staff Katie Walsh and reassigned her to an outside political action committee to reportedly “shore up support” for his agenda.
According to several White House sources who spoke with Breitbart, this narrative was false.
“(T)wo sources with direct knowledge of these matters — one inside the White House and one outside — told Breitbart News on Thursday that it was Walsh’s suspected leaking that led to her removal,” Breitbart reported Friday.
Moreover, according to a report published two months ago by investigative journalist Charles C. Johnson’s website Got News, it appeared the White House had been aware of Walsh’s “leaky vessel” tendencies, as described by The Washington Post reporter Philip Rucker, since at least February, if not earlier.
Inside White House, some officials saw Katie Walsh as “a leaky vessel,” per source. Loyal to Priebus, but viewed suspiciously by others.

“White House Deputy Chief of Staff and #Never Trump Republican Katie Walsh has been identified as the source behind a bunch of leaks from the Trump administration to The New York Times and other media outlets, according to multiple sources in the White House, media, donor community, and pro-Trump 501(c)4 political group,” Johnson reported at the time.
Once the White House became aware of Walsh’s tendencies, it reportedly began feeding her “fake information” in order to fully expose her, a source claimed. The tactic apparently worked, as she has been ousted and sent packing to some outside agency.
Meanwhile, the Trump administration has reportedly begun discussing possible replacements for her. Of the four potential candidates, only one seemed reasonable, Breitbart noted, pointing to three of the candidates’ own “alleged leaking.”
Assuming these reports were accurate, there are a couple of huge problems that needed to be addressed. First, Walsh should have been removed entirely instead of just re-positioned elsewhere. Second, the administration should not consider assigning other questionable individuals to serve as deputy chief of staff.
Third, and perhaps most importantly, Trump must himself keep in mind that “Never Trump” Republicans were not, are not and will never be his friends.
